
NOTE: Bruschetta bread is any toasted bread with toppings as few as olive oil, cheese, and garlic. It is truly your own creation, adding your Italian favorites.
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf crusty Italian or French bread
- 4 or more tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced, divided
- 1 cup favorite marinara sauce
- 1/2 to 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup fresh sliced tomatoes
- 1/2 to 1 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella, divided
- Crushed pepper flakes

- Preheat oven to 400-degrees. With large serrated knife, slice a long loaf of crusty bread crosswise in half. Slather the cut sides with olive and spread the garlic over the olive oil. Place loves in the oven right on the grate until toasted, about 5 to 6 minutes. Remove loaves to cookie sheet.
- Spoon marinara sauce over the toasted loaves and add the Parmesan cheese over both halves. Then add the choice of toppings you love; fresh sliced tomatoes, pepperoni, sausage, olives, fresh basil leaves.
- Next, sprinkle both halves with the mozzarella and sprinkle the top with crushed pepper flakes, as desired.
- Place the bread back into the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheeses are melted and bubbling. Garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serves 4 to 6.
