Most of you folks have heard of our dog, Mr. Peppers, especially if you have followed the many posts that I have written about him. He is our Havanese puppy, black and white, with the personality of a jumping bean. He is now 5 years old, and still as energetic as a new puppy. With my husband and I in our ‘Golden Years’, we have the great opportunity to keep as active as this dog allows.
So, my daughter and her family have gone on vacation, and they needed someone to keep their golden doodle. Of course her mother and dad were her first pick. We wanted to accommodate her, and we thought that Salty might be a great playmate for Mr. Peppers. As soon as they dropped off Salty, Mr. Peppers was very excited. However, when he learned that his cousin was actually staying for 10 days, he became a little irritated.
Now, Salty is quite passive, and wants to please Mr. Peppers in every way. When Mr. Peppers pushes him out of his dog bed, or resents his eating right next to him, Salty puts up no resistance. It is very apparent that Mr. Peppers is not too keen on having another dog in HIS home.
I had a talk with Mr. Peppers, as I always do when he needs correction. I even allowed Salty to play with a few of his toys. However, it is very noteworthy that Mr. Peppers is very ready for his cousin, Salty, be returned to his own home as quickly as possible. Mr. Peppers, what shall we do with thee? A spoiled dog, and a sweet cousin…the two shall never meet!
