Sugared Pecan Balls

Sugared Pecan BallsNOTE:  Need a sweet for the shower or birthday party?  Look no further than these melt-in-your-mouth cookies.  These little sugar balls are always a hit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups ground pecans
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325-degrees.  Cream butter, sugar, and salt until smooth.  Add the pecans, flour, and vanilla using your hands to mix thoroughly.  Form dough into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Watch cookies closely; they are done when brown on bottom.
  2. Roll the cookies while still warm in powdered sugar, being careful not to break.  Place on cookie platter and sift additional powdered sugar over cookies.  For a colorful Christmas cookie, add a few drops red or green food coloring to dough.  Makes about 6 dozen cookies, depending on the size of the balls.
