Fried Apples with Cinnamon Sauce

NOTE:  These fried apples with cinnamon sauce are so good, you could put them right into your favorite pie crust.  Put them on the menu right along with most Country entrees, and everyone will enjoy the sweet contribution.

Ingredients:

  • 5 to 6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced, about 4 cups
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. In large skillet, melt butter and fry apples over medium heat about 6 to 8 minutes, or until the apples are tender.  Sprinkle apples with lemon juice.  Sprinkle flour over apples and continue to stir until apples are coated.
  2. Add brown sugar, white sugar, apple pie spice and cinnamon.  Continue to stir until apples are coated and golden brown.  SFried Apples with Cinnamon Saucetir cream into mixture to make a thick sauce.  Remove from heat and serve.  Serves 6.
