Chocolate Don’t Count

Well guys, I’m into my four days of eating healthy, except for the fried chicken I was craving last evening. Of course, I fried it in olive oil, and you know how good olive oil is for you. I hope you read my 12-Step Program that I posted the other day, that way you can better follow my thinking. As I stated, my motive is pure, it’s just my taste buds that get in the way. They are always bugging me with remembrance. The salads, soups, and fresh vegetables are easy for me because I was raised with them and I love eating my fill. It’s just those little twangs of comfort food that bug us. That’s why I’ve decided that “Chocolate Don’t Count.”

Let me explain. If you are like me, you welcome any excuse to add more chocolate to your life. So let me oblige you and me. Did you know that cocoa contains more antioxidants than most foods and is good for so many things? Let me borrow a clip from the Digest Diet Book published by Reader’s Digest. The research was done at the Yale University Prevention Research Center by David L. KLatz, M.D., and his colleagues: “Cocoa can protect nerves from injury and inflammation, protect the skin from oxidative damage from UV radiation…and have beneficial effects on satiety, cognitive function, and mood”. Notice the word, “satiety,”? This word is defined as: the quality or state of being fed or gratified to or beyond capacity. This proves that chocolate is the best mood lifter ever, and on top of all that…it taste wonderful!

I”n the event you just have to have a chocolate fix, remember that the darker the chocolate, the better it is for you. I say,” look at it as a necessary medicine, and have a bite or two a day”. And if you are really adventurous, make up one of my favorite chocolate desserts….Chocolate Cream Pie with Whipped Cream Topping and Shaved Chocolate Curls.

This could be the best Chocolate Cream Pie you have ever experienced.
